Notes on the Certificate Course in trompe l'oeil decoration:

This course is accredited by The American Society of Interior Designers.

Decorative painting courses

The course takes six weeks full time. Teaching of techniques takes place Monday to Thursday. The studio is open for practice Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The course will include,

Decorative painting courses

Imitation of Marbles and Wood:

Marbles:
Arebascato and white marbles, Egyptian Green and Tinos, Sienna and Portoro, decorative marbles.
Woods:
Pine, Mahogany; straight, heart shapes and feathered. Burr Walnut and Bird's Eye Maple.
Exotic Finishes:
Tortoishell, Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Red Leather, Green Beige , Porphyry and Fossil stone.
Antiqued and distressed Finishes:
Gilding, Painted wood and old plaster walls, verdigris and craquelure.
Trompe L'oeil decoration:
Stone walls , marbled mouldings, Fresco effects and sky ceilings.
Painted furniture and Interiors:
In the studio you will create display panels and work on columns, doors, moulded panels, etc. In addition you can design and work on painted furniture - In this way at the end of the course you will be professionally trained to work on all aspects of interiors and furniture.
Teaching:
If interested you will have the chance to teach other students and will therefore be able to add teaching to your ability to use decorative art.
Fee: £1,950

Special courses with visiting tutors (minimum 6 students)

These courses will be organised by Harry Levinson who will liase with the appropriate visiting tutor.

Wall effects, glazes, and stencilling. Colour and interior decoration. Damage repair and maintenance.

Studio Space:

Students may rent space in the studio to work on furniture, murals, display panels, etc. by arrangement with Harry Levinson.

Hampstead Decorative Arts is now associated with Cascinapapaveri (the Poppy Farm) situated in the beautiful countryside near Asti in Northern Italy.
