Trompe l'Oeil

Trompe l'oeil painting uses techniques to deceive the eye. For example painted imitations of expensive and exotic woods and marbles look like the real thing. Plaster walls to look like they are in an ancient Palazzo.

This apartment off Regents Park in London has walls in the dining area decoratively painted in a trompe l'oeil stone effect. (above)
